Golf the Globe ("we", "us") is a global service — this policy explains what information we collect from you, why, and how you can control it, wherever in the world you play from.
Information we collect
- Account details.A username and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text) are all we require to sign up — we don't collect your email address for a standard account.
- Profile information you choose to add. Tagline, profile photo, handicap, and city/region/country, if you fill them in.
- Golf activity. The rounds, hole-by-hole scores, course ratings, and courses you create or play.
- Content you post. Forum posts and replies, uploaded swing photos and videos, and messages you send to friends.
- Billing information. If you subscribe to Pro, payments are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details. We keep only your Stripe customer/subscription reference and your subscription status.
- Cookies. An essential session cookie that keeps you signed in, plus an optional marketing cookie (Meta Pixel) that only loads if you accept it. See our Cookie Policy for details.
How we use it
We use your information to run the service you signed up for: showing your stats and leaderboards, connecting you with friends, powering the community forums, and processing Pro subscriptions. If you use the AI Coach feature, the round data or swing photos you select are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to generate that analysis, and are not used to train their models on our behalf.
Who can see your information
Other users can see your username, tagline, profile photo, and — unless your profile is set to private — your stats, rounds, and leaderboard position. Forum posts, replies, and swing uploads are visible to other members. Direct messages are only visible to you and the friend you're messaging. We don't sell your data. If you accept marketing cookies (see our Cookie Policy), the pages you visit are shared with Meta via the Meta Pixel so we can measure our ads — you can decline this at any time and nothing else about your account is shared with advertisers.
International users
Golf the Globe is built to be used by golfers anywhere in the world, and your information may be processed on servers outside your home country. Wherever you're playing from, we apply the same standards described in this policy.
Your rights
You can update or remove most of your profile information at any time from your Profile page, and delete individual rounds from My rounds. To request a copy of your data, or full deletion of your account, contact us at support@golftheglobe.app.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date above.
